The story primarily follows Dr. Givings, a physician who uses a new electrical device to treat "hysteria" in women. As his patients experience newfound sensations and connections, the play explores themes of intimacy, sexuality, and gender roles within Victorian society. It is a funny, thought-provoking, and heartfelt show that illuminates how our society has progressed, regressed, and is still struggling to navigate the complications of gender, mental health, and marriage in today's world.
