Event Notes
Written by one of Canada’s most beloved feminist authors, The Penelopiad is a contemporary take on one of the oldest epic adventure tales in existence. Atwood draws Penelope, wife of the fabled Odysseus, out of the shadows and brings her centre stage to share her perspective of her husband’s journey and her life and death as a legend. This sometimes comical, deeply moving performance will leave you awed by the depth and power of the female experience. Presented by Ferre Play Theatre, The Penelopiad features a cast of thirteen women and is directed, stage-managed, and designed by female artists.
